Glutathione IV Drip: Wellness Benefits and What a Session Looks Like

Dripology

Glutathione has become the antioxidant clients ask for by name. The interest is not unfounded. Glutathione is the body’s primary intracellular antioxidant, a tripeptide of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine that participates in detoxification pathways in the liver, supports the regeneration of other antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E, and is involved in the conjugation reactions that move fat-soluble compounds out of the body.

Why the IV route matters for glutathione

Glutathione is a fragile molecule. Oral glutathione is largely broken down in the gut before it reaches systemic circulation, which is why most oral protocols rely on precursors (NAC, glycine) rather than glutathione itself. The IV route delivers intact glutathione directly into the bloodstream, producing serum levels that oral dosing cannot match over a comparable timeframe.

At Dripology, glutathione is administered as an IV push by a licensed registered nurse under physician oversight, either as a standalone service or added on top of a Myers Cocktail or NAD+ infusion in the same session.

What clients book glutathione for

Most of our LA and NYC glutathione bookings cluster into a few categories. Skin clarity is the most common reason clients first ask for it. Glutathione is involved in pigment regulation through its effect on the melanogenesis pathway, and many clients report a more even complexion after a series of pushes. We are careful here: glutathione is not a substitute for sunscreen, and the visible effect varies by person.

The second category is general antioxidant support during higher-load periods. Heavy training blocks, environmental stretches with poor air quality, periods of higher alcohol intake, and post-illness recovery are all situations where clients book glutathione as a single session or as part of a short series.

The third category is paired use with NAD+ as part of a longevity-focused stack. NAD+ and glutathione operate on different pathways but are often combined in a single visit for clients on a structured protocol with their physician.

How a glutathione session runs at Dripology

A standalone glutathione push is fast. The infusion itself runs five to ten minutes once the IV line is placed. Doses range from 1000 mg for a first push to 2000 mg or higher for established protocol clients. The most common in-session sensation is a brief sulfur or garlic-like taste at the back of the throat as the push runs. This is a known property of intravenous glutathione and resolves on its own within a minute or two.

When added to a Myers Cocktail or NAD+ infusion, the glutathione push is given at the end of the session, after the main bag has finished. Total session length is the length of the main bag plus a few minutes for the push.

Cadence and stacking

For skin-clarity goals, a common protocol is a series of six to ten weekly pushes, then a maintenance cadence of one push every two to four weeks. For general wellness use, monthly is a reasonable starting cadence. Your RN can suggest a schedule after reviewing your intake.

Glutathione pairs naturally with vitamin C in the same session, which can help support antioxidant status from two angles. It also pairs with NAD+ for clients building a longevity protocol. Your RN will confirm appropriate combinations during intake.

Realistic expectations

Glutathione is not a quick visible cosmetic procedure. It is a wellness service designed to support the body’s existing antioxidant capacity. Clients who notice the most visible change tend to be those who pair regular glutathione sessions with consistent sunscreen use, sleep, and a reasonable diet. Skipping any of those weakens what glutathione alone can do.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a glutathione push take?

The push itself takes five to ten minutes once the line is in. With intake and line placement, plan on 20 to 25 minutes total for a standalone visit.

Can glutathione be added to other IV services?

Yes. The most common combinations are glutathione with a Myers Cocktail or with NAD+. Your RN will confirm what is appropriate for your visit.

Is glutathione IV safe?

Glutathione IV is generally well tolerated when delivered by a licensed RN at appropriate doses. It is not appropriate for everyone, and your RN will review your intake form, current medications, and history before starting.

Glutathione IV pushes are available at both Dripology locations, in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles) and Flatiron (New York City). Contact the concierge team to book a session or ask about appropriate combinations.
